Why Editorial Families?

What we hear over and over from some our clients is that they want family portraits that look and feel like “them.” We’re looking for families that are especially interestedin being themselves in front of the camera. This project is for Austin area families who prefer a more natural and candid style of photography that is still elevated. Selected families receive a complimentary session experience with us in Lockhart as well as a $100 print credit.

CAN I BUY THE PHOTOGRAPHS?

Of course! From the comfort of your own home, you will have a fun and very special reveal and ordering appointment on Zoom where you look at your stunning portraits about one week after your shoot. This is your time to order any of your favorites. Should you fall head over heels (which we’re pretty sure you will) with any of your portraits, we’ll help guide you through the options, ensuring the best fit for you and your family. At that time, you’ll apply your gift certificate towards your purchase.

Our artwork starts at $495; and most clients typically spend $1500 and up on their selected portraits.

How Do I Book My Session?

To book your session, please fill out our short form below. We’ll review it quickly and get in touch with you via text and email. Then you’ll have a short phone call with Colten, Quinn or Lauren to confirm we’re a good fit and to select your session and Zoom dates.

Sessions are limited and are being scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to respond quickly if we contact you. Right now, every mom who is selected for a session will be entered to win a feature in our upcoming Magazine, “A Beautiful Bond.”

Our Studio is in Lockhart, close to Austin and not far from San Antonio. Most of our clients drive 30 minutes to 3 hours to come and see us, and often make a day of it here because the town is so historic, walkable and cute. (And BBQ!) Be sure to visit our local art galleries, vintage and antique stores, cafe’s and Bookery that many children–and adults–love! Our physical address is: 103 E. San Antonio Street, Lockhart, Texas, 78644. Parking is free and on the street.

Fresh creative projects inspire us! We’re looking for Austin families who desire an unscripted and natural editorial feel for their family portraits. We are continually trying fresh ideas and new lighting techniques.

No, we are looking for REAL families of all types for our ever expanding portfolios. Our clients are real people so we prefer to show real people in our studio displays and social media.

Absolutely! We encourage you to bring along other important family members, like grandparents. There is no charge for additional family members and we’ll include them for a part of your session; for example, at the end.

We block out an hour for your appointment. A standard session takes approximately 30 minutes, depending on the number of people in the family and if there is an outfit change. Most of our clients prefer to do two “looks” or outfits.

Unfortunately in the past when we offered complimentary sessions without any reservation fee, we experienced many late cancellations and no shows. So now we require a $99 nonrefundable reservation fee to book your time on the studio’s calendar. It’s not lost as you can apply it towards your order.

No need to worry! Once your session is booked, we’ll send you ideas on what to wear and what works best in B&W and with our studio’s signature style. We’d also love for you to being things that are very “you” for this project….statement wardrobe pieces, musical instruments–anything that represents your family.

You will place your order and see your portraits on Zoom. One of our dedicated designers will review your portraits with you on Zoom within 1-2 weeks after your session, allowing you to experience and reflect on the beauty of your family using our fun and efficient selection process and unique software. As you select your favorite portraits and presentations that best suit your home, aesthetic and budget, we’ll help you to feel confident in your purchasing decisions.

All orders are placed and taken care of at this meeting. We believe that in enjoying your portraits as soon as possible as we have found that “later” typically never comes. This complete Zoom reveal and ordering appointment is often described as one of our clients’ favorite and most memorable parts of working with us. An important note: If you are married or partnered, both you and your spouse or partner will not want to miss this Zoom, which currently takes place by appointment on Fridays-Mondays. Why is this? In most relationships, both members tend to enjoy having at least some input (either financial or aesthetic) in the selection process. It’s also emotional, and happy tears can and do often happen. (Bring tissues, just in case!) Too many times, we have heard extreme regret when a partner has not been able to attend so while it is not required, it is strongly encouraged. Second Zoom appointments cost $500 and can be challenging to accommodate as we are a boutique studio that is booked to a limited capacity so that we may serve our clients at the highest levels of attention and detail.
